Dog Star Comics is rolling out its first noire (some might call it horror) publication, Black Opus Vol. 1 by Donnie Lee, R. E. Brown and Howard Daniels. You can read this comic for free online in a magazine style flipbook. For those of you who are more interested in reading it at a higher resolution in the digital comic book viewer of your choice, you can get the high resolution .CBR file for free as well. An ePUB file is available for those of you who use an iPad. If you prefer other format just let us know and we will make it available. It is recommended that you make a donation to Dog Star Comics.

Our intention is to release Black Opus Vol. 1 for free to establish an awareness for Dog Star Comics. We will be releasing  additional digital comics books in the future not only as promotional products but to help bring the idea of digital comics to a wider audience that will inturn bring more readers to comics and dark comics in general.

Black Opus Synopsis

The creative team of Donnie Lee, R. E. Brown, and Howard Daniels deliver a compelling, dark comic comprising of  four episodes that bring you “soul gathering with a little rock n roll.”

In “Rain”, a distraught man gives in to his compulsion to kill. “Prince of the Universe” is a requiem to the rock band Queen’s Freddie Mercury and explores the enigma of this icon as he faces the last moments of his life. In “The Kiss”, a junkie and artists hopeful narrates the world as he sees it creating the antithesis of Gustav Klimt’s famous painting.  Wrapping up the decent into the darkest parts of humanity, “The Flying Boy” chronicles a boy who prefers to live in his fantasy world rather than face a reality that is harsh.
